GO: a community-curated open studio project

What's up New York..

I am one of 1861 Brooklyn-based artists participating in this very cool project, brought to you by the Brooklyn Museum:

GO: A Community-Curated Open Studio Project

September 8-9, 2012

During GO, Brooklyn-based artists are asked to open their studios to the community on September 8–9, 2012. Community members registered as voters will visit studios and nominate artists for inclusion in a group exhibition to open at the Brooklyn Museum on Target First Saturday, December 1, 2012.

please take a minute and register to vote, then visit my studio September 8th or 9th and vote for me!

I'm one of 18 artists participating at The Invisible Dog Art Center (51 Bergen Street, 2nd, Floor, Brooklyn), so please stop by and visit my colleagues as well!

Thank you in advance for your votes!

my paintings on billboards in Albany!

So something new and very cool..

A few of my paintings will be displayed on digital billboards in Albany, New York for the next two weeks! i am one of many contributing artists whose work will be in constant rotation on a massive billboard (prime space otherwise always exclusive to paid advertisements). that is what's up! pretty dope. shoutout to my buddy mike lewis who participated in a previous billboard project and ultimately made me aware of this cool-ass organization. i'm bummed i won't be able to see my billboard-sized work in person, but if you know anyone in Albany, please give them a heads up about this project! it's happening right now, non-stop, through july 15th!

July 2-15, 2012

This Billboard is located on the south east side of Fuller Road, right at the intersection of Cherry Street and Fuller Road in Albany, New York. It faces north west and can be seen by traffic traveling southbound on Fuller Road and by traffic entering Fuller from Dorlyn Road. The Billboard Art Project presents uninterrupted, noncommercial musings created for your viewing pleasure by local, national and international artists.

Walt Whitman: BLUE & GRAY

my Walt Whitman design for Griot Apparel. Also available in blue and gray.

WALT WHITMAN (on green): walter whitman (1819 - 1892) was an american humanist and writer. he received schooling to the age of 11 and then went to work to support his family. whitman began as a legal clerk and continued his learning through apprenticeships, including as a printer’s devil. throughout his life, he was politically active and composed poems and essays in his free time. at various points he worked as a government clerk, a school teacher, and in journalism. whitman lost his position as editor of the brooklyn eagle because of a political dispute with the newspaper’s owner. he said it wasn’t until after years of chasing customary awards that he decided to become a poet.
