CALL FOR VISUAL ART - The Brooklyn Review, Issue #28

whatup world. i'm still regrouping after an intense finals week at BC and a long xmas weekend in the RDG. now that i'm back in BK, i'm just looking forward to slaying that studio first chance i get. but unrelated to any displaced creative aggression i'm experiencing today, i'd like to mention a project i'm involved with. i've recently accepted the position of Art Editor of the annual publication The Brooklyn Review and i am currently seeking visual artists to submit for our 2011 issue. although the Art Editor does not have final authority as to what gets published and what doesn't (so don't get upset with me!), i encourage everyone to submit their best unpublished pieces for consideration between now and February 12, 2011. but please don't contact me directly, email brooklynreview@gmail.com according to the guidelines below:

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!

The Brooklyn Review is an annual publication of the MFA Programs at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. We publish fiction, poetry, playwriting, interviews and art. Started under the direction of Allen Ginsberg, the Brooklyn Review has been guided by literary giants including Jonathan Baumbach, L.S. Asekoff, Amy Hempel and currently, Josh Henkin. During our outstanding 27 year history, we've proudly published work by Sapphire, T. Cooper, Wayne Koestenbaum, and David Levinson, whose story Blue is Just A Color in Issue 25 was selected as a finalist for the 2009 Pushcart Prize. Past interviewees have included Gary Shteyngart and Kevin Brockmeier. Please visit our archives to download previous issues.

The editors of the Brooklyn Review invite submissions of original, previously unpublished works of poetry, fiction, playwriting, and artwork. You do NOT have to be a Brooklyn resident, nor have an affiliation with Brooklyn College to submit. No fee to submit. All literary guidelines and past issues can be viewed on our website:

ART SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

We accept photography, drawing, painting, prints, or 2D documentation of any other kind. All submissions must be PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED, with all rights belonging to the artist. Up to five images may be submitted per artist. Files must be JPG, 300 dpi, with artistʼs name and title (Example: lastname_title.jpg). Entire submission must be attached in one single email to Art Editorʼs attention. In subject, write “Art Submission.” In body of email, include your full name, title size and medium of each piece, and your email. Only submissions via email will be accepted, do not mail original artwork or photographs.

Due to the large number of submissions, the editors cannot comment on or return manuscripts or artwork. Again, NO FEE TO SUBMIT! Notification of submission status shall be conducted via email.
