IN ART PURSUIT at The Invisible Dog

an added bonus of attending my upcoming open studios, you could win a piece of my art! or the art of another wonderful artist at the invisible dog! it's super easy, check it out...

IN ART PURSUIT

MARCH 8 & 9 – PART OF INVISIBLE DOG’S OPEN STUDIO WEEKEND – Creativity at The Invisible Dog Art Center comes in many forms. Thirty-four distinctive artists now cultivate their creative practices on all three floors of 51 Bergen Street. We invite you to discover them for yourself during The Invisible Dog Art Center’s 2014 weekend event. Throughout the weekend of March 8 and 9, The Invisible Dog is yours to roam. Four fresh exhibitions, including the new Glass House gallery extension, and open access to the studios make for a personal, immersive, art experience.

In Art Pursuit comes with a challenge: upon entering The Invisible Dog on both Saturday and Sunday, visitors will be given one of three itineraries—sets of questions and clues relating to the Art Center’s multifaceted operations—to help guests determine their route around the building. These curious queries will guide guests to engage with the diverse array of work produced here and the minds behind it.

As visitors pursue all the creative offerings on display, from the Glass House to the third floor, which will feature the Invisible Dog’s annual resident artist group show Hive, they are invited to cast their completed questionnaires into a raffle for small works donated by the artists of The Invisible Dog. The drawing will take place in the days following the weekend, and only those whose answers are accurate will qualify for the opportunity to take home a piece of The Invisible Dog. We encourage you to become a part of the pursuit!

In Art Pursuit is organized by Anne Mourier and Aaron Freed, Invisible Dog’s resident artists.

Saturday March 8th, noon-10pm
Sunday March 9th, noon-6pm

ARTIST OPEN STUDIO – EXHIBITION

Saturday March 8th, noon-10pm
Sunday March 9th, noon-6pm

Part of Armory Arts Week

The Invisible Dog
51 Bergen Street, Brooklyn

2014 Featured Artists: Douglas Adesko, Vanessa Belli, Juan Alfaro, Bina Altera, Jon Burgerman, Julia Cocuzza, Sathya Balakumar, Gabe Benzur, Malcolm Brown, Chong Gon Byun, Dean Dalfonzo, Dillon DeWaters, Aaron Freed, Maria Gracia Donoso, Sarah Feehily, Ryan Frank, Camille de Galbert, Pascale Gueracague, Nemo Hoffman, Nancy Hubbard, Oliver Jeffers, Kiya Kim, Anna Levikova, Anne Mourier, Prune Nourry, Mac Premo, Claudia Paneca, Sarah Palmer, Xavier Roux, Aaron Ruff, Ian Trask, Kevin Waldron & Susan Weinthaler.

From their selection of material and media, to collaborations and conceptual works, the Invisible Dog Art Center’s 33 international artists pay homage to the inspiring environment in which they evolve – creating a collective exhibition to unite their diverse skills under one theme. Only 4 years old, the art center has already established itself as a pioneer in housing avant-gardist programming and artists. Not only does the Invisible Dog challenge our preconceptions of art and presentation, but it attempts to do so in every possible medium and discipline, as a supportive space for plays, contemporary dance, music, conferences, contemporary art exhibitions and artists of all kinds. The artists share and mix their creative juice to produce a unique flavor of culture. A metaphor for this dynamic community, Hive demonstrates how individuals of such vast talents flourish together.

Exhibition curated by Gaelle Porte

In addition, The 4th annual open studios of all Invisible Dog artists-in-residence. Once a year (and only once a year) we open our artists’ studios to the public. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see what everyone has spent the year working on.

Photos from IndieWalls Exhibition at The Bean

I haven't mentioned it since I first installed back in January, but for those who spend much time in the East Village, I still have selected paintings hanging at The Bean (54 2nd Ave), presented by IndieWalls (peep the artist/venue listing). Show only runs until March 28th, exactly 2 weeks, so don't miss it! Stop by, grab a cup, and relax while looking as diligent as these nice people. until then, a few photos..
